The Pale Brood is busy recording music and have finished two more songs: Transparent and Man from Mangawhai. You can listen to them here:

Also, we have finished a preliminary design for the album we plan to release this year! A designer named Sayaka Nakagawa created this for us. The concept is the “birth of the brood.” We plan to title the album “Like Mother, Like Brood.”

Recording

It sure takes a lot of time to get those songs done. All the preliminary recording was done for “Transparent” and “Man from Mangahwai” a month ago, but with all those tweaks and edits that are needed, we are still not finished. We have moved production from the recording studio over to Richie’s apartment, which is set up with pro tools. Today, Shogo recorded some bongo drums for “Transparent,” and it sounded good–very appropriate for the song (a chilled out feel). Richie also ventured to put some electric guitar onto the intro, which has changed quite a bit (there is a new string sequence in there). “Transparent” is one of those songs that you would expect to morph a lot in the recording process, and it has done just that. 

Next week we are taking the songs into a professional engineer to help on editing and mastering. Sato-san at the MAC school in Yoyogi helped us record “Blue-eyed Girl,” which if you listen on the site was very professionally done. He has been a big help to us, and Richie has of course followed his every move on the mixing board to brush up on his own pro tools skills. 

Sorry to keep all of you waiting, but we expect these two new songs to be done by mid-late November. And then they will hopefully be on sale! Stay tuned . .

On September 9th, the Pale Brood performed at the Irish Times in Shimbashi. They played an hour set for a rotary club event. Thanks to all the staff at The Irish Times for the great food and inviting us to play!
